Duvall O'Steen hails from the Lone Star state where she began acting at the age of 13. Following numerous community and high school productions, she was voted "Most Talented" of her senior class and went on to study theatre arts at both Texas Tech University and Texas Woman's University. She began her professional career with the Thomas Agency (Dallas) and Actor's, Etc. (Houston), performing regularly with The Actor's Company and occasionally with Murder Mystery Players for approximately 6 years. During this period of consistent professional stage work, she also earned an MLA degree from Southern Methodist University (SMU) and landed several local, regional and national commercials. Favorite Texas stage credits include Bobbi Michelle in Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Doris in Same Time Next Year, Tipsy in Candidate for Murder, Alice in The First Church of Texaco, Maggie in Lend Me a Tenor, Katherine in Taming of the Shrew, and Vladimir (Didi) in Waiting for Godot. She also starred as Gina in the 1998 USA Film Festival's "finalist" short film Gina's Music produced by Jim Chase Films and was often seen on cable TV hosting the hilarious morning talk show spoof Inside America for TCI Cable. The Broadway dream brought her to New York City in 1999 just in time for the Millennium celebration. The Off-Off Broadway world has been good to Duvall with unique opportunities to premiere new scripts and resurrect old classics with modern twists like the all-female production of Romeo and Juliet in which she excelled as a "delectably rambunctious Romeo" (Off-Off Broadway Review ). Duvall has also had the fortune to perform for an extended six-month run in the longest running Off-Off Broadway show in history--Line by Israel Horovitz at the 13th Street Repertory Theatre. She has enjoyed the honor of starring opposite Bibi Andersson in the 1999 NY Int'l Fringe Festival, as well as the chance to perform in the English Festival at Theatre L'Escale and the Sorbonne in Paris. A strong believer in training and continually honing her craft, Duvall is currently learning the Meisner technique at the Bill Esper Studio, studying voice with Richard Armstrong of the Roy Hartt Theatre and taking Yoga classes. She hopes to learn Flamenco dance next! In addition to her performance work, Duvall enjoys traveling and has been privileged to travel all over Italy, as well as other European favorites like Paris, Amsterdam and London. She speaks Italian fairly well, some Spanish and enjoys exploring other cultures. She likes to cook and read, and she prefers to spend her free time volunteering with young people at the All Stars Talent Show Network and the St. Joseph's Young Adults Group. She is also a prolific poet with her first published poem to debut in the Poetry Society of America's 2003/4 anthology. Duvall is grateful to her family for their continued love and support, and she loves life in New York City! |
